The Brotherhood (World Premiere)
February 1-25, 1996
By Syl Jones
The Brotherhood is dramatic fiction based upon the lives of real people. It tells the story of a group of black, sleeping-car railroad porters who battled the Pullman Company over working conditions and compensation. The remarkable part of this story is that poor white railroad employees were also discriminated against in this struggle. Working together, these employees, led by blacks, “pushed from the inside” to take control of their future.
