Baby Case (Regional Premiere)
October 5-November 3, 2013
Book, Music and Lyrics by Michael Ogborn
Minnesota-born aviator Charles A. Lindbergh’s 20-month-old son was kidnapped from the Lindbergh home in Highfields, NJ on March 2, 1932. The crime resulted in a public and media frenzy to find the child and the criminal and to exact swift justice.
The show is a study of “the crime of the century” and its principal characters. Moreover, it asks questions about the judicial system and how public and media attention can affect it. The play’s action occurs between 1927 and 1936 at various sites in New Jersey.

The Things They Carried (World Premiere)
March 15-April 6, 2014
(In repertory with Lonely Soldiers: Women at War in Iraq, March 15-April 6, 2014)
Based on the book by Tim O’Brien
Adapted for the stage by Jim Stowell
Minnesota author Tim O’Brien was drafted into the Army shortly after he graduated from Macalester College in 1968. His book gives readers a first-hand picture of battle against Viet Cong soldiers in Vietnam. Another Minnesotan who served in the military before Vietnam is Red Wing storyteller Jim Stowell, who was impressed by O’Brien’s book and adapted it from the page to the stage. The title of the story reflects the “things” carried by soldiers in O’Brien’s Alpha Company. Some of those things were tangible, like matches, morphine, rifles, and candy; other things were intangible, like guilt and fear.

Lonely Soldiers: Women at War in Iraq
March 15-April 6, 2014
(In repertory with The Things They Carried, March 15-April 6, 2014)
By Helen Benedict
This play is based on interviews conducted by author Helen Benedict for her 2009 book, The Lonely Soldier: The Private War of Women in Iraq. The play’s monologues are combinations of the interviews and letters the soldiers wrote by e-mail. None of the content is fictionalized. The play illuminates the complex issues of war and misogyny, class, race, homophobia and post-traumatic stress disorder. Collectively, the stories add up to a heartbreaking picture of the sacrifices women soldiers make for this country.
